Trent Alexander-Arnold has been labelled as England’s ‘best midfielder’ with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp told to sign a right-back this summer.
The full-back, who has been trying out a new position for the Reds and England, has received rave-reviews by his performances in the middle of the pitch.

First trialled in a midfield role by Gareth Southgate in 2021, Klopp has since taken a look at the move.
Playing in a hybrid role at club level with Jordan Henderson offering defensive support on the right flank, Alexander-Arnold excelled at the end the 2022/23 season, helping Liverpool to a seven-game winning streak.
In that span he managed six assists and a goal, and carried such form into England’s Euro 2024 qualifying campaign.
Southgate went one further than Klopp, placing the 24-year-old in a midfield three, and was rewarded with a goal and assist against Malta and North Macedonia.
Former Liverpool striker and talkSPORT host Dean Saunders is utterly convinced by what he’s seen from Alexander-Arnold.
The Welshman even declared that he does everything better than West Ham skipper Declan Rice, who is set to join Arsenal in a deal rising to £105million.
Speaking on the Sports Breakfast show, Saunders said: “I think that Trent is the best English midfield player in England. I think he’s better than all of them.
“If you play him in midfield he can do everything that Declan Rice does, but also he can hit passes that Thiago [Alcantara] hits and sees it.

“If I was Jurgen Klopp, I’d buy a right-back and play Trent in midfield.”
Saunders continued: “I think that Trent was brought up as a midfield player. He ended up at full-back but he knows what to do.
“I was watching him and you need to have wing mirrors on when you’re playing in midfield with your back to goal and playing the other way – you need to do both and I think that he can do both.
“I think that Jurgen Klopp will eventually play Trent in the middle of midfield.”
Alexander-Arnold will have extra competition in the middle of the park should he be entrusted to play there next season.
Liverpool have signed Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig for £60million, while also bringing in Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton for an initial £35m.
