A goalscoring midfielder – perhaps Liverpool’s first since Steven Gerrard – Szoboszlai lit up the Bundesliga during his two seasons, and fans at Anfield will be eagerly waiting for his debut.

He’s already thrilled supporters by expressing his love for local hero Gerrard, and taking his no.8 shirt.

The 22-year-old also talked up the Anfield atmosphere, saying the only time he’s been nervous before a game was a Champions League tie on Merseyside with Salzburg in 2020.

But among the announcement day excitement, Liverpool made sure to get the most important information on camera.

With the midfielder in his new kit and lacing up his boots, the Reds social media team asked how to pronounce his name properly, to which he replied ‘Dominik So-bos-lai’.

There had been some misconceptions over whether the ‘sz’ sounds were pronounced as a ‘sh’ in English, but Szoboszlai has now simply revealed his name is pretty much as it’s written.

Now all that is left is to learn how to spell it without checking…
